Restoring My PC
Hi,
Ive been having a few issues with my pc over the last few weeks and im now going to restore the PC back to when i took it out of the box.
Firstly im not 100% sure on how to do this.
I dont have many files on the pc but am going to copy all relevant files and mp3's onto disks for when i reintall the necessary software.
The only thing i am a little concerned with is that since i bought the PC - i have added a DVD drive, upgraded the memory to 2gb and added an extra internal hard drive. Will restoring the PC mean that i need to remove all of these components and then reinstall these all over again?
Is there a crash course on how to do this anywhere on this site? My PC is a DIM 3000.
Hope you guys can help.............im hoping to do this today as my Saturday project!!

The only thing you will need to do afterward is all Windows updates, and reinstall any DVD software the add-on drive came with.

Hi,
When you say back up the data - where will this back up everything onto?
Will the restoration also delete all other software that i have downloaded as well? Itunes/Ipod converters/MSN Messenger etc?

Yes, absolutely everything you've added since the system came out of the box will be removed when you do a system restore (or a partition/format/reinstall manually).

Is there a link on this site or on the web that will guide me throught the process?
Also will my memory upgrade and 2nd hardrive be affected?

The memory upgrade won't be affected. The second drive will not be affected AS LONG AS IT WAS NOT INSTALLED WITH A UTILITY LIKE POWERMAX, DATA LIFEGUARD, DISC MANAGER, etc. If it was, back it up first as you'll lose access to it.
