Retreiving Deleted Files

Question

How do I retrieve deleted files/photo's once I deleted them from my Recycle Bin? I know on the newer computers from Dell you can Hold Control and F11 when you restart your computer and come to the Dell Logo Screen. But on the older models like the 4550, is there any way possible to retreive deleted files/photos?

You need what is called file recovery software, the more you use the PC the less chance of recovery with any method.   The best software at doing this   http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm      you need to choose GDB for Fat (win 98)  or GDB for NTFS (2000,XP)

I dont understand how to use that Program. Is there any way I can find the files/images in the computer without Downloading a program? Because on my New Dell Desktop theres something in it that I can recover lost/deleted files. Is there any way like that or any way at all to retrieve files/images that got deleted?

Once files are deleted from the trash can, the only possible way to recover is with a special program and then, as noted, you may still not be able to retrieve them.    Once a program or file is deleted, the system sets a bit on the sectors that the file occupied that they are available for use.  Thus if the system doesn't 'use' (write) those sectors there is a chance of recovery.  But if the system uses the sector for new data then recovery of that file is not possible.   I have a new Dell E510 and I don't see any 'recovery' feature on mine.  Normally, (actually I've never saw a recovery program of the type you need be supplied with a new PC) that is not provided.  There is recovery options to completey rebuild the PC, but that is not what you want.

Yea, you should have a Recovery Feature on yours. I have the E310. When you reboot your computer, and you reach the Dell Logo Screen, Press and hold the Control and the F11 key. You might have to do it a few times. Once u get it right, it will bring up a screen, in which you can reformat, or recover lost files, and such and such. I just wish there was a way on the older models, such as the Deminsion 4550.
