SAMSUNG CD/RW/DVD not recognizing disk in drive D:
I am unable to get my CD/RW/DVD drive to work in the CD-ROM read or write modes. It displays the following: Please insert CD rom in drive D:. It does play DVD's; but cannot understand why it does not work. A new CD/RW/DVD drive was installed 4 days ago and performed Ok for 2 of those days.
DELL SUPPORT is unable to solve this problem.
Does anyone have a solution for me to try?

I go to play a dvd a message that says "Please insert a disc into drive
E:" comes up, the dvd-rom is unable to recognize the dvd even though there is one in the drive. I used to be able to play dvd's on it so I know it can work. I can use an install cd-rom and audio cd's on this drive so the drive does work. The version of PowerDVD is supposed
to be version 4.0.11, that's what the install cd reads, but it's not that version. It's actually a
different version than what the cd says. I have run a system diagnostic
and the log shows it as version : 3.00.1408 so it's not what the cd says
it is. I suggest people do a system diagnostic check and check to see what version the diagnostic log comes up with. The powerdvd install cd is labeled wrong with mine and it might be with yours too.
