Samsung DVD ROM Problem

Hi
Can anyone help me solve why my Samsung SD-616E DVD ROM drive no longer recognises CD's or DVD's. This runs on channel 0 linked to a NEC DVD +-RW ND-3450A on channel 1 (this works fine). I've checked all the cables, downloaded the latest driver, run the Dell diagnostics tests (this gives the following message error 0F00:136C, Msg: IDE device failed). The tray opens & closes without any problem. The green light appears on start up, when a disc is inserted it makes a noise then stops. In My Computer if I right click on the drive it tells me to insert a disc. In device manager it says that there is no problem with the device.

Please Help !

John

Hi John,

Chances are the drive may have simply failed on you but lets run some of the standard steps.
I do have one question though, I noticed you have Nero, Sonic and Easy CD Creator listed but only Sonic DLA Packet Writing program. Is this true, you do not have InCD or Drag to Drop installed as well? Two Packet Writing programs can clash.

Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1; section 20, article 3; Section 12, article 10. These cover drivers, controller and the Upper & Lower Filters.

Best Regards!

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Hi Chelsea,

Disable them from Start -up.
Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 13-0, article 12. See if this helps.

Best Regards!
