Samsung SW-252S

I too am having difficulty with disc copier in Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5. Am told I need firmware R953, but after much trouble at Samsung Website, downloaded it but during installation, a message opened saying my drive was not compatible with the firmware. I have R902 installed. Samsung won't help, Dell is working on it. I am no doubt doing something wrong with regard to the download and installation.
Any help is much appreciated.

Try this:

If you have other drives on the same channel, they should be unplugged or disabled in system setup.

Thanks Osprey, I downloaded the firmware(as before) and saved it to a temp file. I went there, clicked on sfdwin.exe, got a security warning, clicked "Run" drive select window opens, selected Samsung SW-252S(it actually says SW-252S R902, change drive window opens, click ok, click first(file) icon, file window opens, shows file R953EXP Bin. Click on that, do not see "Ready" message but click middle Icon, get incompatibility message.

Can't figure what's wrong.

Just to confirm, this is the only optical drive on that channel?

Ok, you confirmed this is your only optical drive and that you were using Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum prior to upgrading to Easy Media Creator 7.5. My suggestion would be to uninstall and reinstall the software and any updates.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Easy Media Creator software to no avail. Thanks for your efforts. However, it appears that my particular drive is not on the "supported drive" list posted by Roxio. Other versions are,but this one, SW-252S is not.  Thanks again.

You may want to consider trying the demo version of Nero, available here:

You should uninstall any packet-writing programs, such as drag-to-disc, before installing.

Thanks again, Osprey.

This has become unbelievably difficult. After uninstalling and reinstalling the Easy Media Creator software, Installshield was unable to complete the installation as it was unable to verify the "certificate." Wondering "What next", I went into the Add/Remove programs page. Easy Media Creator was listed there, so I attempted to remove it again. Windows keeps trying to configure the software but can,t as it can't find a  certificate, it also displays Fatal installation error, no number associated with this. So, I can't install or uninstall it. I have put this to Dell and Roxio, awaiting a reply.

I found an Add/Remove programs cleanup utility and installed it and was successful in finally removing the software, then reinstalled it, no problem. Deciding that some incompatibility existed between the firmware installed and what I needed to install, I went to Samsung and downloaded and installed firmware R954, no problem. I then tried to install the Firmware R953 which Roxio said I needed and guess what? It worked. Now, I can copy CD's or burn music to CD's from my hard drive. However, when I tried to play them in my bookshelf system, they would not spin up and therefore not play. I tried them in my car player with the same results. Then I tried them in a second bookshelf player I have and this one would play them(?)

I have since learned the SW-252S is not capable of utilizing all the features contained in  Easy Media Creator 7.5  and will have to be upgraded, making all this moot. Thanks for any past assistance.
