Seagate HD comparison
Thinking about getting a larger HD. I want to get a Seagate with 8Mb cache, 120G, 7200rpm. There are two models offered with these specs. One is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3120814A sold by Newegg. The other is a standard Seagate sold by Best Buy, Circuit City, etc ST3120026A-RK.
I have an older Dim4400 and have to use EIDE. I've checked Seagate's web site and both are listed, but again, both seem to have the same performance. Obviously they don't or they wouldn't be sold as separate drives. Anybody have any experience with either of these and a recommendation?
Actually, I could get an 80G. That would be sufficient. I only want to keep this system for another year or until Vista is ironed out. I can't find an 8Mb cache with Seagate in this size. I've been warned not to get a WD and I just had a Maxtor fail on my other Dim4600. I've seen other reviews that say to get the 8Mb over a 2Mb cache if you can. Seagate does have an 80G with 2Mb. This will be my C drive.
