Simple dvd and cd drive question....

I'm having a hard time burning anything to these drives. When I try to back up any files to them I get the message telling me to insert a disk when there's already one in. Basically, the drives aren't recognizing when there are disks inserted in them. Now, I can play music cd's and run others as well...just am not able (so far) to copy files to them. I suppose this should be an easy problem to fix but I'm obviously not well versed in troubleshooting. Any one care to offer some advice? Thanks!

Vinny:

Sorry but our crystal ball is out for service. Please post the models of your system and drives, as well as what software you are using to try to burn discs.

Osprey,

Sorry for the lack of details. It's a Dimension 4550. The cd and dvd drives are as follows:

CD: HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8481B

DVD: SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616T

any help would be greatly appreciated.

We're using Dell Portait Studio for our pics. Also, we have MS Money 2006 and are unable to back up our files to cd (which we should be able to do with that edition).

I think Dell were supplying Roxio Easy CD Creator with that system. Is that what you're using? Do you have Roxio Drag to disc installed?
