Sonic CD Recording

1st received my Dell [Nov 04] couldn't record data or back up software. Reloaded Sonic MyDVD 5.3 LE and RecordNow 7.1 LE Software.  Was then able to backup data on CD-R and CD-RW.  Still can't backup ANY original software, e.g., Dell or HP printer; will copy the disc but won't write to a blank CD-R - tells me to contact microsoft?????????????????????  I have backed up original software and printer software with NERO and never had a problem.  Does ALL original softwre now stop u from making a back-up copy????
