Sony DDU1621 DVD-ROM interface cable wrong

After hours of trouble shooting why the new DVD and old CD drives didn't show up I found that the Sony came with a 40 wire cable that doesn't support CL (cable select).  I could have selected master and slave but to be sure I got a new cable (80 wire) and stayed with CL.  Both drives were found and installed easily.

OuterLimits,

That is what I figured, had basically the same problem on the PC`s I have worked on the past, some of Dell`s cable worked fine, other were short, some were even split.

Best Regards

OuterLimit,
Thanks for the tip on the Sony Cable, any particular reason you did not use the Dell Cable?

Best Regards

The DVD was shorter so I needed a little more length on the section between master and slave with the Dell cable.
