Stop: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
I was using my computer all day at the office and it had been working fine. Then I brought it in and booted it up and it gave me the Stop: c000021a {Fatal System Error}. The windows logon process terminated unexpectedly...... I'm running an Inspirion 8500 , Windows XP Pro, the last known thing I could have done would possibly be just the automatic windows updates. My system is always up to date so it had to have just been the most recent update. I have in past had a little dialogue box that came up every time I started windows and i blieve it said there was a program error in winlogon.exe... i'd just click ok and it would always work. I tried reviewing the forums but nothing really addressed it well. Please help as I have very business crucial data.
Thanks!

I did try and do a repair.... let me know if i did it right, i put in the cd, and then selected the repair option..then it gave me a command prompt screen where i entered the admin password...then it just stuck me at c:/windows then i did chkdsk.
Anything else ? because that didnt work. It did say it found an error but didn't say it fixed anythign...then i ran it again and it didnt say it found an error...yet it still doesnt work.

boot off the cd and pretend you are going to do a fresh install. You will then get the option to to either a fresh install or a repair install. Choose the latter.
The repair install will take as long as a fresh install so don't worry about the length of time that it takes.
Good luck

I am having the same problem as the guy listed above. The only problem is that I did what you said to do and I complete the process then it continues to go back to a blue screen that says the fatal system error.
it says:
The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0x00000080 (0x00000000 0x000000000
The system has been shut down

i'm having exactly the same Fatal System Error like you, on a DELL Dimension 2350 with Win XP!
I tried to repair the installation without success.
Anyone has an idea how I can get my system running again as I have important data on the hdd which I cannot loose!
Any workable idea is very much apprciated!
thanks ahead.
