whoops closed out the window accidentally..

Message Unti 0 DST Log contains previous errors.

The unit boots to the system boot options about half the time.

chkdsk reports the volume is clean.

Can anyone tell me what this error message indicates?

Seems my first post got erased.

When I ran System Diagnostics, the Hard Drive failed the DST Short Test with the following errors

Error Code 0146
Message Error Code 2000-0146

Re-run the diagnostics, this time doing the extended test.

I already ran the extended tests, many of them failed.  SMART long test failed, and several others as well

The next step I am taking, after backing up the users files, is to boot from CD and do an extended chkdsk

There's not much point in doing that. Back up your data and replace the failing hard drive.

Thanks for the advice, actually in my experience, if I run chkdsk /p and it finds errors, then  run it a second time, if the second run doesn't produce errors, we don't normally see that hard drive fail again, or at least not soon.

If the errors are still there the second time, I recommend replacing the drive, as was the case with this unit.
