System Restore CD?
I have a new Dell Inspiron 5100 Laptop and I would like to completely restore it back to factory settings. I know they included the CD to re-install Windows XP Pro if I had too, but that doesn't wipe out the hard drive, just reinstalls the OS. Is there anyway to just get rid of everything and start over with some sort of system recovery CD? Is it something I have to order with Dell? Thanks for any help!

Insert the XP cd and do a restat.
When the Dell screen comes up, press F12
You'll get to a boot menu. Select your cd drive
It'll run the Windows installer. From there, you'll configure your setup and then it will eventually ask you to format the partition (drive) that Windows is on. From there, you can completely erase the Windows drive and it'll install Windows XP after that.
Make sure that you back up all your important data before doing this though. You'll end up losing everything on the hard drive.
