Trying to uninstall programs on Windows XP

Question

My OS is Windows XP and I’m trying to uninstall programs but when I open add / remove programs none of the programs have the remove button. I want to get rid of my Yahoo messenger but my remove button has disappeared. Any suggestions?

If there is a Modify button for Yahoo, click it, then see if there is an option to remove.  If not, check the programs menu for a yahoo listing, see if there is an option to uninstall there
