unable to format CD

Suddenly I am unable to copy music or photographs onto brand new CD's. Have tried to format them through Record Now Sonic and also windows, get message insert media. Have emailed Rick who advised me to post and hope Predator 'Jeff' gets message as he is the expert. Drive is working fine so it must be software issue?????

Thanks but my Inspiron 9100 is 2 and a half years old and although I bought it inthe UK I now live in France!!!! Don't think getting a new drive from Dell is an option. The drive is working, allows me to play audio CD etc

Hi Sherbertg,

To create audio CD`s (copy your music), you do not want to format the disc. Formating requires a Packet writing program, which Sonic`s is DLA.

Lets run a couple of standard steps to take the drivers out of the picture. Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1; Section 20, article 3.
These two articles will give you clean/fresh drivers.
If this does not help, then jump over to Sonic`s web site and download their update to the PX Engine. This has helped a number of people in the past.

Best Regards!

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

Hi Sherbertg,

It seems now you must be a registered User to get the update.
See if this link will work for you.
