Unable to open Word docs

Unable to open Word docs from My Docs...get pop-up message 'MS Word for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  If you were in the middle of something the info you were working on might be lost.  Please tell MS about this problem.  We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve MS Word for Windows, we will treat this report as confidential & anonymous...Send or Don't Send.'

I have deleted normal.dot files, and I have done a system restore, and I am still getting the above message.  I can open Word docs by going through MS Works, History.

Please let me know if you have a solution.  Thank you!

Carol:

This is not a hard drive issue, so you're better off posting in the MS Office forum over in Software. However, to help get you started, here is an MS KB article that explains how to diagnose this problem:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;290929

I would have done exactly what you've already done, delete normal.dot, but in this case, it must be more involved.

Good luck,
