USB Hard Drive

Hi,
I recently purchased an USB Hard Drive. I noticed that Windows XP put two folders onto the new HD...RECYCLER and System Volume Information. I am wondering what the purpose of these two folders are and is there any way to prevent Windows from putting these two folders onto the USB HD?

Thanks

there's nothing you can do about those 2 folders as it's a windows system thing.

They have to be there, they are system files so XP can use the drive, they are very small so there is nothing to worry about.
