Using my old HDD

I've just got my new Inspirion 530.  It's come with a single 320gb drive but I'd like to add a spare 160gb drive that i've already got.  My question is would this invalidate my warranty?

Thanks all...

Don't worry.  In fact, if you need service, the first thing they often ask you to do is open the case.  Or if you bought new parts from them, you would be expected to install them.

You can install any new components you like (cards, RAM, etc).  Dell is very reasonable.  Of course, they won't warrant any damage you cause installing new parts (actually they probably would if you were installing their parts and the machine is under warranty), but if you are reasonably careful, you should be ok.

Thank you Peter, I was actually expecting the opposite answer so that's a nice surprise.  I thought they'd invalidate the warranty the minute I opened the case!

Many Thanks

Chris

No, you can add a HD without a problem.  Dell just won't warrant the new HD.
