If the system is under warranty, run a full Dell diagnostic (outside of Windows - F12 at powerup) and record the exact error that results. Call Dell with it and they'll replace the drive.
If the system is out of warranty, and you need a recommendation for a replacement drive, post the system model and someone can assist.
Either way, you have a faulty hard drive that needs to be replaced.
