wont read dvd`s
i`m having a problem with my dvd druve. I was about to burn a backup of a dvd, but my dvd drive wont read
my blank dvd`s. Neither dvd-r or dvd+r. So I can`t start my burning session. The owner`s manual says it applies
to dvd+r. I use verbatim blanks, both cd`s and dvd`s and it read my cd`s
So why doesn`t it work/read the dvd blanks????

Hi Motti,
If the disc you wish to back up is a commerical DVD movie, then you most likely will see additional issues because of the embedded copy protection. As for reading blank discs, depends on the format your drive supports, a DVD"+"R/RW drive with not read a blank DVD"-"R/RW disc and vise-versa (spelling ?).
Dell has release firmware updates for some of their drive to address read issues, click on the Product Support tab above, scroll to Downloads and follow the directions
Best Regards

Hi Motti,
Do check for the Dell firmware updates.
But for now, just to clear up any possible driver issues; clickon the Cd/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 15, article 1; Section 20, article 3; Section 11, article 2; Section 12, articles 2 & 3.
Best Regards
