bitlocker issues inspiron 3580

I bought an inspiron 3580 laptop in the beginning of the year. It came with windows 10 home 64 bit and I upgraded to windows 10 professional. I noticed today that bitlocker is on. I did not install or activate bitlocker. I don't have any problems but I am just wondering why? I managed to save my bitlocker recovery key to the microsoft account web site. So I am able to retrieve the bitlocker recovery key. I saw on the internet that you must suspend bitlocker when doing bios updates. I normally use the dell update program to do driver updates and bios updates. I have done bios updates a couple of times this year without suspending bitlocker and I did not experience any problems. Should I suspend bitlocker when doing a bios update? Is it necessary with the dell update program?

I posted the same question in one of Microsoft's forums. They say most of the modern laptops nowadays, when you install the professional edition of windows it AUTOMATICALLY activates bitlocker on the pc. It also automatically saves the recovery key to your Microsoft account. This is by design.  According to previous messages by you the Dell update program auotmatically suspends bitlocker for bios updates. That's why I didn't experience any problems with bios updates and bitlocker. You can now close the case. Thanks.
