Problem with MyDell updating

Hi. I just tried to open 'MyDell' and it said there is an update which I must install to be able to continue to use 'MyDell', but it won't install, says to check my network connection! There is nothing wrong with the connection, even tried disabling the anti virus, firewall and all other security  including VPN and everything else that is likely to cause such a problem, still it won't update so still I can't use 'MyDell' - Anybody any ideas how to fix this issue, there are no error codes and no information why it wont install the critical update. (Inspiron 5502 purchased 3 weeks ago direct from Dell France ( not at all happy with Dell France, no problem at all with Dell UK or Dell USA) Thanks in advance for the help to fix this.

Thank you, Malt 63, I have an Inspiron 15 3000 and this problem suddenly appeared. My laptop is going on 2 months old.  I'll keep checking back!

Hi. For me the solution was something called  Fusion Service ...

A manual update to Fusion Service v2.0.58.0 (rel. 15-Apr-2022) also seems to have fixed the problem on my Inspiron 5584 / Win 10 Pro v21H2 laptop and the My Dell app is no longer repeatedly prompting me to install an update.  See my 16-Apr-2022 post in matejmajny's My Dell Update Problem for further details.

To find the latest version of Fusion Service for your Dell computer go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us?app=products and enter your unique Service Tag to open the correct support page for your computer model. Click on the Drivers & Downloads tab and then expand the "Find Drivers" section to find the Fusion Service installer recommended for your system.

I had the same issue with 2 brand computers. Go to dell.com/support. Choose your identified computer by the web or enter service tag from computer label . Go to drivers and downloads. Type in my dell in the keyboard field. Choose to download the latest fusion service. Install. Restart. It's supposed to work after these steps.

Well I had the same issue from 2 days on my Inspiron 3511 but I have figured out the solution what you have to do is

1. Open Control Panel And uninstall dell Fusion/ Fusion Service

2. Visit dell support page and enter you system model or Scan With Dell support assist and download the latest version of Dell Fusion service once you have successfully installed the fusion My Dell Application problem should be solved

or install from this link https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=m93kw&oscode=wt64a&productco...

Please reply if this method worked

As I read it the solution is “do/try” some things and patches from Microsoft, clean up and install ‘My Dell’.

How is this a Community Accepted Solution?      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What is your Dell computer model and Windows operating system?  What versions of the MyDell app and Fusion Service are currently installed? If you can't launch MyDell and click the About link to see the version number then you should be able to find the version number at Settings | Apps | Apps and Features in the advanced options as shown below.  If the Fusion Service is currently installed you can find the version number at Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features.

This thread was started in May 2021 so some of the information might be outdated.  For example, there is a new version of MyDell v3.x currently being rolled out to some Dell newer models (see my 22-Aug-2023 thread MyDell v2.x UWP App vs MyDell v3.x Full Installer in the Productivity Software board where most users post about their MyDell problems) and I'm not even sure the new MyDell v3.x application requires the Fusion Service.

If you are still having problems installing the "legacy" MyDell v2.x UWP (Microsoft Store) app then please see XPS_Man's 23-Sep-2023 suggestion in cannot install my dell application after reinstalling windows 11 and even the tech suppport is not helping to enter the command winget install 9PN7T3JFPRZ6 in an elevated command prompt with Administrator rights.

Dell is apparently aware the users are currently having issues installing the "legacy" MyDell v2.x app from the Microsoft Store at https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/my-dell/9PN7T3JFPRZ6 and are trying to fix the problem.
