SupportAssist 4.10.1 will not update using Dell Update Package for version 4.10.5 or 6, Windows 10

Running Windows 10 on XPS8930, SupportAssist has a constant error about not being able to connect to internet since version 4.10.1 installed.  The issue has been identified by Dell and they claim version 4.10.5 or 6 will fix this.  I downloaded the Dell Installer for 4.10.6 and ran it, it does not install the new version and leaves a message that my current installation is up to date.  Anyone have a suggestion for what to try next?

I just started my support assist on win 10 and noticed 3 pages at the top and one of them was an update for support assist. hit it and it installed the newest version 4.10.6 and checked for updates seamed to work. I hope this helps and has finally fixed the problem.

Hi gcraig0001:

I would wait until one of the Dell employees makes an official announcement that your internet connection bug is fixed before trying another reinstall of SupporAssist v4.x, or just wait for SupportAssist v4.10.1 to auto-upate itself at launch after the bug fix is announced.

The direct download link for the SupportAssist installer at https://downloads.dell.com/serviceability/catalog/SupportAssistinstaller.exe is currently offering an updated v4.10.6.481716 of SupportAssistInstaller.exe, but this is a small 1.4 MB stub installer that manages the download and installation of the latest available version of SupportAssist posted on the Dell download servers. The stub installer itself does not contain the full program and simply connects to the Dell download servers to retrieve and run the complete installer package.  It's possible Dell still isn't ready to release SupportAssist v4.10.5 or v4.10.6 and is still distributing v4.10.1 installation files from their download servers.

@lmacri Thank you for the reply.  You are most likely correct, but I can't help but wonder why Dell didn't already update my installation to at least v4.10.5 when they announced that was a fix more than a month back.  I am still on Windows 10 with no intent to go to Win 11, which is the first suggestion they offer when someone questions them.  Turns out btw that v4.10.5 is also buggy, thus the relatively quick change to v4.10.6.  Fortunately I have other ways to check for updates so this isn't critical, but I do prefer the existing software actually work.  I guess we will see if they ever decide to fix it.  Once again, thank you for the reply.

@biterman Thanks for the heads up.  I launched my Support Assist app but it didn't automatically update or give me a link to do so.  So I used the Dell updater and this time it worked and installed v4.10.6  This version seems to have corrected the issue.
