SupportAssist update problem.

SupportAssist will not update to 4.0. I get as far as "We're preparing SupportAssist to help you keep your PC running at its best." The 'spinning wheel' keeps spinning endlessly. I have Windows 10, fully updated. Cache/cookies cleared. Did a restart. Apps and Features shows 4.0.0.51819. Should I uninstall and then reinstall? I'm not tech savvy and, due to my computer's age, I'm no longer permitted to purchase Dell Software Support. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Version 4.0 is buggy and causes sporadically stutters every 15 minutes on my AW17R3. I thought that disabling the dell SupportAssist services would solve the problem. But no, so the only solution is to uninstall dell support assist. I have given it one more chance and installed it again, but if it continues to cause stutters, it's the end.

Is there somewhere on the Dell site where I can download the previous 3.x version of Support Assist???

@jmcre878d85c unfortunately no. At least not from any official dell website. When a new version is released the previous download file is replaced.

I gave up SA on my old xps laptop. Wont run, update or uninstall. So it's just on the system sleeping.

What a waste of space. I hate support assist and going to delete it. Figures a Dell bot would pop in to put service tag lol. If Dell "cares" then roll back this update to the old support assist. This is non functioning, doesn't login, wastes time messing with trying to fix.

Open control panel using search. Go to "uninstall a program" find Dell Support Assist and uninstall it. Then Google SupportAssist, and download it and install it. On my PC what was installed was the last version, not the new version.

The new version of Support Assist is causing all kinds of video stutters/black flashes/and black solid screens.  It is a big problem with random computers here at K-12 school.  When it happens it maxes out the RAM usage.  Uninstalling and never reinstalling the new version.  Version 3 had worked fine.

@Dell_srinath_g Dell cannot fix their own software issues!

@William Bell 2 The new version is terrible, and Dell seems not to be able to fix it!
