Output would look something like:
DF-7A 07A C A STEC STC0200 17 190782 81136 190782
DF-7A 07A C E SEAGATE HUC1415 0 0 0 139028
DF-7A 07A D 1 SATAHGST N01THGK 61 953870 900829 953870
The first line is EFD, second is a 15K FC, and the last is SATA.
If you list -by_diskgroup, all the EFD's will probably be in the same disk group, which you can then specify when creating or migrating devices.

1. Normally disk is grouped based on their disk types in symmetrix?
2. One disk group can contain only one type of disks?
I am very much interested in finding the SSD installed on Symmetrix. I need to know how much SSD capacity is available on a particular symmetrix.
any help much appreciated.

Run a symdisk list -by_diskgroup and you should see your drives, along with their free capacity. If you are having trouble, just post the output here and we'll help you figure it out...

where SSD installed on the symmetrix.
I don't have any symmetrix with SSD installed. We are planning to replace some SATA disk with SSD in our symmetrix. Before we need see the capacities available and how it looks in the output.
If possible can you pls give sample out of symdisk list -v of SSD disk
1.-symdisk list -by_diskgroup where SSD installed on the symmetrix
2. symdisk list -v of SSD disk
Thanks a lot for your help...

You differentiate the disk based on the vendor?. Because STEC provides SSD disk to EMC.
Can you pls tell me how you differentiate the disk. Based on any code. For exmaple can you pls see below
DF-1A 01A C 0 IBM IBM146F 104 139814 12456 140014
DF-1A 01A C 2 IBM IBM146F 104 139814 11224 140014
DF-1A 01A C 4 SEAGATE CH146LF 104 139814 11224 140014
DF-1A 01A C 6 SEAGATE CH146LF 104 139814 11224 140014
on the above output... What type the IBM disk belongs to, Is it FC?
