Using VMAX for the Exchange

Hi,

We are being regualry told by Microsoft not use dynamic disk and they always need one big Metalun so that they no need to use the dynmic disks on the windows hosts to extend the 100 GB metalun we give them out.

Is there any best Practices used for Exchange on the Vmax on the disk Layout we can use. We personally dont want to create meta grater than 100 GB which is made out of our 25 GB tdev.

Please suggest your recomendation on the metasize we can go upto.

thanks

govind

disk layout for exchange is all about performance (number of mailboxes, number of I/O per mail box). You want to separate workloads (database and logs). Take a look at this paper

White Paper: Configuration Best Practices for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and EMC Symmetrix VMAXe
