Email notifications from Dell OpenManage?

Anyone have an .exe program that can be triggered (using the "Execute application" under the "Alert Actions") to send out an SMTP email if there is an alert in OpenManage?

Sure would be nice if a simple SMTP email ability was built into OpenManage...

Thanks for any help!

There should be correct SPF record for FROM domain\IP.

Read the article bottom part:

If your device or application does not support SSL - connect to aspmx.l.google.com on port 25.

You must configure an SPF record for your domain with the IP address of the device or application to ensure that recipients do not reject mail sent from it. You must also add this IP address to the Email Whitelist box in your Google Admin console. For example, if your sending device sends from 123.45.67.89, add that address to your SPF record without removing the Google Apps mail servers from the record: v=spf1 ip4:123.45.67.89 include:_spf.google.com ~all

Try to send from your gmail account first.

I find this ironic too.  Come to think of it Dell does things in a strange way.  No online SAS/SATA updates for example.  The two letter "other guy" supported this for years.  Would be nice to see Dell do the same.

I just got this to work by using the following lines

SMTPServer="smtp.gmail.com"
SMTPPort="587"
EnableSSL="True"

There's a new product in development which will be released shortly which not only allows you to send e-mails to administrators, but launch other external programs to respond to the event, and more..

Stack-Tech OMSA eNotify

Development just started but has been progressing rapidly!  There's a newsletter you can sign up to so you know when the product is ready/

Hi,

Make sure that config.xml is in the same folder with dellSMTPNotify.exe and check the email server settings in config file. Also try to simulate server alert manually (to see the result\error) with C:\DellSMTPNotify.exe 1, 2, or 3....

Hello there, I did the same thing as "xyfon.com/.../setup-email-notifications-dell-openmanage" but why change to D:\ as the directory? Drive D is my DVD RW Drive. When I did the test to push an email in CMD, it worked well under the C:\DellSMTPNotify.exe 1, 2, or 3...

To Execute application for Watchdog ASR, i typed in the path "Absolute path to the application: "C:\DellSMTPNotify.exe 1" (without the quotes). I did a test for Temp. Probe Warning as the user stated and i did not get any email.

Can you assist please?

Thanks,

hello Nick, the config.xml file is in the same folder as of dellSMTPNotify.exe. The email server is correct because I got an alert when I tried a manual CMD  command and did not get an error. I receive an email for all 1, 2, 3 and etc... Not sure what else I am doing wrong?!?!?!
