iDRAC Service Module cannot send email for alerts
Hi,
I installed iDRAC service module on the server PE T620 and it seems working well to show the hardware status. I want to make it send emails for some alerts such as hard drive issue.
When I set the SMTP server setting and test the email function, it always pops up an error of “failed sending email”. May be the network setting of iDRAC is not correct. It shows the IP address as 192.168.0.120, but the LOM1’s IP address is actually 192.168.2.230. I am not sure how to make it work. We have a SMTP service running on the server.
Thanks for any help.

Thank you for writing to us. May I know if you are accessing iDRAC from the Host OS using the “iDRAC Access via Host OS feature” of iDRAC Service Module (iSM) ? Also, iSM is not expected to run under LOM mode. For more details, please refer iSM User’s Guide at: https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/04/idrac-service-module-v3.3/ism_3.3_users_guide/introduction?guid=guid-a5887dfc-efb2-4141-a8a6-621fc242331a⟨=en-us However, iSM is not responsible for instrumenting the hardware status of the Server, setting up the SMTP, etc. For detailed instructions, please refer iDRAC user guide at: https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/products/software_int/software_ent_systems_mgmt/remote_ent_sys_mgmt/rmte_ent_sys_idrac8 #IWork4Dell
