R710 Lifecycle Controller/ Manual CD not working for updates
Hi all,
I am currently working on getting one of my R710s updated. I tried first via the Lifecycle controller but got a message that "No update is available. Make sure that Windows catalog and Dell Update Packages for Windows are used." This server does not run Windows so I am not sure why I am seeing this message? So I thought I would make a manual update CD and boot to that and install the updates. This did not work either as I get a message saying that packages compat-libstdc++-33.i686, libstdc.i686, libxm12.i686 are needed to install. Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi,
Can you private message me your service tag so we can get some additional information?
The lifecycle controller uses the Windows update packages regardless of what OS is installed on the server.

I have the same problem! To give more details;
I have the same problem. Platform Update via FTP does not function for about 2-3 days.
And i tried with the newest repository manager it did not function either (SUU Bootable CD or SUU Image via System Services, both did not function, did not upgrade any firmwares).
I tested the platform update on DELL R210 II, R610 and R710 Servers. All of them in this generation have the same problem.
I need help too.
BTW: the servers does not have any OS installed, no hard drives.

I got the same error on my R710 server trying to update via the lifecycle controller earlier this morning. I used ftp.dell.com and it looked like it was going to work and grab the catalog, but was prompted with "No update is available. Make sure that Windows catalog and Dell Update Packages for Windows are used."
