SupportAssist scheduled collection

Dell R7415 server, iDRAC 9.

I must have configured a SupportAssist scheduled collection but I can't figure out where / how I did that? I.e. where's the schedule?

Any ideas?

Hello,

Do you have Secure Connect Gateway or OME Services plugin?

Those pull periodic collections by default.

If you check in the lifecycle log, it will give you the IP that started the Job ID in the screenshot.

I notice all the Scheduled ones are for the first Sunday of the month.

@DELL-Charles R I had the OME plugin but don't use it anymore. Is there a way to modify the schedule from iDRAC?+

You're right, there are ways to view and modify SupportAssist scheduled collections on your Dell R7415 server with iDRAC 9, even if you no longer use the OME plugin. Here are two methods:

Method 1: Using the iDRAC 9 Web Interface:

  1. Launch the iDRAC 9 Web Interface: Open a web browser and navigate to the IP address of your iDRAC.
  2. Log in: Use your iDRAC credentials to log in.
  3. Go to System Setup: Expand the System Setup menu on the left-hand side and select SupportAssist.
  4. View Scheduled Collections: Under the SupportAssist section, you should see a list of scheduled collections. This list will display the collection name, frequency, next run time, and status.
  5. Modify Schedule: To modify an existing schedule, click on the desired collection name. This will open a detailed view where you can change the frequency, retention period, and other settings.

Method 2: Using the RACADM CLI:

  1. Connect to iDRAC via SSH: Connect to your iDRAC using an SSH client and your iDRAC credentials.
  2. Run RACADM command: Execute the following command to list all scheduled collections:
racadm sacollection -s list

This will provide a similar output to the web interface, listing the collection name, frequency, next run time, and status.

  1. Modify Schedule: To modify an existing schedule, use the following command syntax:
racadm sacollection -s edit -collectionname <collection_name> [-interval <interval_in_seconds>] [-days <retention_days>]

Replace <collection_name> with the actual name of the collection you want to modify. Use the -interval option to specify the new frequency in seconds (e.g., -interval 86400 for daily) and the -days option to set the retention period.

Ok, when I logon to the iDRAC web interface, I'm presented a dashboard - there's no menu to the left; only along the top.

Can't find System Setup either - when I type 'setup' in the search box, it only lists:

SupportAssist is listed under Maintenance. It shows the Collection log but there's no way to modify anything?

When I use Putty to setup a SSH connection and enter "racadm sacollection -s list" it returns 'Invalid command specified". Digging a bit further; help supportassist lists a bunch of commands, along with the message: "Note: Starting iDRAC 7.00.00.00 SupportAssist registration, upload and autocollect scheduling is not supported".

And when I type supportassist autocollectscheduler view it lists:

ERROR: SRV086: Unable to start the operation because the SupportAssist feature is disabled on iDRAC.scheduler collection time = 12:05 AMscheduler collection DayOfMonth = *scheduler collection DayOfWeek = Sunscheduler collection WeekOfMonth = 1scheduler collection User = *scheduler collection recurrence = Monthly

So it does list the schedule, although SupportAssist is apparently disabled??

Entering supportassist autocollectscheduler clear also lists errors, but the schedule is cleared anyway:

racadm>>supportassist autocollectscheduler clear
ERROR: SRV086: Unable to start the operation because the SupportAssist feature is disabled on iDRAC.
SRV090: The SupportAssist operation did not complete successfully.
Check the Lifecycle Logs for related errors and perform the recommended response actions for these error messages and then retry the operation.

There's no way to change SupportAsisst settings either. The 4 Hour ProSupport Mission Critical ends 31 JAN 2026.

Now the question is: how do I get the SupportAssist running again?

Reading my own post, the solution stares me in the face. It's the line "Starting iDRAC 7.00.00.00 SupportAssist registration, upload and autocollect scheduling is not supported". The last successful scheduled data collection was July 2, 2023. According to my own log, I installed iDRAC 7.00.00 on July 11, 2023. As the line above says and as listed in the release notes, SupportAssist direct upload, scheduling, and register is deprecated.

Apparently, there are some loose ends to this, since iDRAC still performs the scheduled collection. It's not listed as a known issue.
