Taking Hard disk Serial Numbers?

Hi,

We have nearly 400 rack servers (R720 and R820) at customer site and the customer is requesting the serial numbers of hard drives that placed on the servers. Each server has 16 drives. Is there any way to take serial numbers of hard drives collectively via open manage, idrac or any other way.

Any help would be appreciated.

Aselim84,

A dset report I know will show the serial number of each of the Physical disks, now with Open Manage it is dependant on version. Older versions I believe listed part number but not full serial.

Here are links to the two.

DSET -

OMSA - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r720?driverId=CWHRG&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3267736217&languageCode=en&categoryId=SM

Let me know if this helps.

You can run following command to get only serial number of all hard disks

racadm raid get pdisks -o -p PartNumber
