Dell Venue 11 Pro Power Buttons no longer working in Windows *

Just received my mobile keyboard yesterday. I updated my BIOS to A05 yesterday, installed the "Power Settings Fix", and ran Windows Updates. Now all of a sudden the tablets power button doesn't work in Windows 8.

I thought this might be a BIOS issue. This is how the buttons currently are functioning in Windows 8:

  • Pressing the power button once time no longer puts the tablet to sleep. I checked in the power profile, pressing the power button is set to sleep for both battery and plugged in.
  • Holding the power button down for 5 to 10 sec no longer shutsdown Windows.
  • Holding the power button down for 60 sec hard powers off the tablet.
  • Volume buttons work 100%.
  • Pressing and holding the power button when the tablet is turned off turns the tablet on.

Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas on how to fix this?

Interestingly enough, my power button stopped working yesterday also. I was using the tablet without the keyboard and the battery drained (super fast I might add, since I disabled lpm and the video power saving). I plugged it into the dock and it powered on. Once I was done I hit the power button and it did nothing. I used windows to put it to sleep using the UI. I turned it on again but still the power button didn't work. I held the power button down and windows turned off. After it rebooted, the power button worked fine.

Thanks! This worked! All I did was hold in power button for 10 seconds and it shut down, and now it works. Wonder why it took 2 months to figure this out. Now if I could figure out how to upgrade ssd, stop the random freezes, and find a back cover everything will be fixed.... Does anyone know where to find back cover for i3 model, I ordered one but it was for the intel atom model.

I am having exactly the same issue. Power button doesn't work and there is no SLEEP option in the power menu either.

The issue seems to be the 3G network card driver. As soon as you uninstall the driver the sleep button function is back. I have tried all 4 versions of the 3G driver software on Dell.com but it's the same with all of them.

Any help please as at the moment, the device doesn't work with the 3G modem enabled properly.

Hi,

I've tried it but I get the error message: "This computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for for installing this software"

Crapy product. I would like to list out every issue I have hitherto found:

1. Sleep button (Power Button) won't work... You guess it: 3G driver mess up

2. Battery drain by night... Or battery gets hot when you left the device in sleep mode after you used the camera (yes, it's a bug... It's like using the camera for hours without using it)

3. Device won't wake up

4. Micro SD disappear (unmount)

Furthermore Dell system detected web page for touchscreen sucks. I have spent hours to get rid of this new issue (power button) and I ended the day with exactly the same problem: 3G driver imess including sleep-power button problem.

I'm not a newbie, I've tried everything: I've uninstalled drivers, downloaded all drivers for that particular broadband module (A02,A03,A05,A06), changed the Power option settings (Power button action-> on battery->sleep), recovered Windows to a well known point, Dell and so on. I feel like an idiot. The support guy tell me if I would like to send the device for checking out it would take up to two (!) months.

This was a no go on my 7130 :(

Anyone have access to recovery media for the 7130?  My USB drive with recovery media *** out.

* Correction this works when my 7130 is unplugged from power. :)

However, my 7130 still has issues when it is plugged in to power with power button not functioning as expected.
