Flash drive to retrieve password
I haven't used my Venue 7 in months. I took it out and it still had battery power I fully charged it but can't get in. I don't remember the password. It says I need a flash drive to retrieve it. But I don t see a USB port. Do I need an adapter or am I missing something?

Dell14z,
If this is a BIOS password, contact Dell Tech Support. If under warranty, no fee. If not under warranty, there will be a fee.
If this is a Windows password, Microsoft policy about lost or forgotten passwords

Dell14z,
If you have another Administrator account, you can use that account to reset the password. If not, if you read the article from Microsoft, they explain the options.

No other account. I read it but didn't see other viable options. I'll read it again and see if I missed something. I'm quite frustrated. Before I became disabled I built computers and figured out problems easily Now a simple task is a meshugass (pardon my Jewish. It's easier than swearing).

Just reread the article. Nothing for Venue 8 I have no Live account. I lost the pass before creating a disk. Don't know what are my options.

Dell14z,
Some third-party companies claim to be able to circumvent passwords that have been applied to files and features that Microsoft programs use. For legal reasons, we cannot recommend or endorse any one of these companies. If you want help to break or to reset a password, you can locate and contact a third-party company for this help. You use such third-party products and services at your own risk.

I ignored that part of the article as I know not to trust third party software. Yet you brought it up, recommending I find one. Doesn't Dell have a legal solution? Can I somehow reset this back to original condition then go from there? No way to recover it?
