Lost "high performance" power profile on Venue 8 pro

I only see the "Balanced" option. I remember when I first had the tablet, i had two options...one for Balanced and another for Performance.

How can I get these options back? At the very least, can somebody post their profile settings for their Venue 8 pro ?

Also, I don't see any "battery low" popup...the tablet will turn off without any warnings when the battery gets low.
Thanks in advance.

That has something to do with connected standby settings / configuration Dell does on these units. Same is for the Venue 11 Pro MS versions. vPro units are different because no connected standby support.
If you disable connected standby all Windows power plans are displayed and all advanced power functions are available.

Use Regedit and change the below:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power
Change the value of the key CsEnabled from 1 to 0 and reboot.

1 means connected standby enabled and 0 disabled.
Try it and see if it resolves your problem.

BTW: by disabling connected standby the battery display will also show the remaining time not just the percentage of battery life. :-)

I'm having the same Windows power configuration issues on my Venue 8 pro. :emotion-12:

I'm trying to enable CPU parking to reduce power consumption at idle but can't find the advanced power configurations on the control panel or the normal Windows power plans.

Dell seems to have replaced the Windows advanced power options on the control panel with their own.
And if you use powercfg.exe to change the missing ones, they are lost at the next re-boot.

To the advanced Windows admin and techs, this is unacceptable. We've purchased a Windows 8.1 machine and expect that all the Windows control panel features will be accessible.

Dell needs to provide a fix for this issue that doesn't involve completely re-installing from a genuine vanilla Windows 8.1 iso dvd or the Windows store. Dell broke the powercfg.cpl and Dell needs to provide a fix for it - one that restores the vanilla Windows power plan and power configuration panel functions without the need to re-install Windows and all our applications.

Thanks iGetThis, it was driving me nuts. I did find a way to add a poorly documented Attributes = 2 key to expose the hidden settings, which must have been added with the CS power plan changes. Disabling CS restored the missing power plans and configuration options. CS should be turned off by default.

It would be nice if Microsoft, Dell, and other manufacturers, made this Connect Standby power config restriction generally know to the Windows community - especially techs and admins.  CS is also giving a lot of developers migraines, especially those writing drivers and services. And Windows x64 still doesn't support CS due to lagging device driver and software updates.

The CS concept is fine if you want your Windows system, tablet, or phone, running at idle when you think that it is shut down and powered off. But how many desktop and tablet users actually expect that their Windows 8 system keeps running in CS when it is supposed to be shut down ?  And what are the security exposures ?

CS may be appropriate for folks who expect their Windows Smartphones to be active 24/7, even when "turned off".  But I don't want my tablet using up the battery when I think that it is shutdown and powered off.

Anyway, I'm gad that I now have another excellent excuse to disable Connect Standby.

Could you explain this--were you able to get the other options with CS enabled, or was that with it disabled? And where is the Attributes key/where did you add it (and how)? Thanks--
