I have not tried unmounting and remounting my sdcard.  It does seem to be working fine though.

I have sdcard0 and sdcard1.  sdcard0 seems to be the internal storage while sdcard1 is the removable card.  I don't recall if this is a change on the venue.  Has it always been called that?  I know on some of my devices the external card is sdcardext.  or sdcard2

My venue 8 was one of the unlucky ones that would not update to 4.3.  Dell finally made a patch for that and i was able to update eventually.  So there are definate differences in these devices.

OK, I unmounted and remounted my sdcard.  No problems.  Odd how the results can vary on a software update.

I am definitely leaning towards a possible hardware difference. I am taking apart the various OTAs to compare against the hardware specs in ASI.

I have a similar issue with the update.

The SD card comes and goes as it pleases. Sometimes a reset brings it back, sometimes not.

Before the update there was never a problem, the SD card was always present.

I bought a new SD card, and have same issue., so it is not the card, its the software update.

Dell, Please fix this issue.

There seems to be a chronic problem with Dell Venue 8 and Micro SD Card function, with various symptoms, including those mentioned, and others.

I am upgrading to a 32Gb Venue 8 at the sheer frustration of having to deal with disappearing, partly disappearing, reappearing, and often jumbled data on any SD card inserted.

I sent back my first one, presumably defective, since it jumbled and eventually destroyed every card I inserted. The second one lasted a week before beginning with the same kinds of issues, eventually (after two weeks) refusing to recognize insertion and existence of any kind of Micro SD Card.

Both of the units I owned were promptly upgraded to 4.4.2, so I have no idea whether there really is a problem specifically with Kit Kat and these units.

The local seller tech 'guru' indicated they had seen the problem before, and assumed there was a motherboard problem with the Venue 8. Dell has since 'upgraded' to the Pro, which features Windows 8.1, no thank you.

Let's keep the conversation going, although I have no idea what the true underlying problem is.

I have the same problem.. I have reset the Venue 8 several times.  I have gotten it to work a few times but the Sd card continues to disappear.  Any fixes
