On my tablet, the Window Key, followed by x doesn't bring up the menu.  On my desktop pc, it does, and clicking on a letter works.

Hi Jeff,

You will find that if you open up the on-screen keyboard (search for OSK), the full-sized keyboard with all the keys, and you press the windows key followed by x, it will open up the menu on your DVP8.

Don't press the Window key on the tablet, press it on the OSK.

Interestingly, when I use the Windows virtual keyboard or the on-screen keyboard and type Windows key+X, I get the Windows Start button right click menu of choices; the first time I did this just now, each item on the list had an underscored letter for potential use as a keyboard shortcut for the item--but the next time I called the menu up using the Windows keyboard (but not the OSK), the underscores were missing.  Regardless, I couldn't use either virtual keyboard to type the shortcuts:  when the right click menu appeared through using the Windows keyboard, the keyboard disappeared and when I called it up, the right screen menu disappeared; and when using the OSK, the shortcuts in the right click menu didn't seem to correspond when using them on the OSK.  No biggie, though--just touch the right screen menu item that you want to invoke.

Addition:

Experimenting some more, I assume that this is by design:  when I press Windows key+X on my Bluetooth keyboard, I get the Windows Start button right click menu with the underscore shortcuts showing, which makes sense, as I then can type the shortcuts on the Bluetooth keyboard, which works.  Whereas the underscores are not really needed or all that useful, it seems to me, when using the virtual keyboards, when you simply can touch the option you want as easily as using those keyboards.

OK,  I was using the win key on the full touch keyboard.  When I tried the OSK, Win key + x gave me the menu with the underscores, and the OSK was still displayed, but tapping a shortcut letter only made the menu disappear.

Mine also works properly with the BT keyboard.

Thanks for doing the experiment Mike.

Sure, on the face of it the underscores don't seem that useful.
But when you won't be using your fingers to make a selection, but rather code,
then all of a sudden they have the potential to be very useful.  :)

Please see my post  'Create Sleep button shortcut on desktop' for more details.

Very strange thing just happened now.

I replied to this post with quotes. When I reviewed the post I saw the entire post was a light grey color.
I figured this must be due to improper quoting, so I removed the standard quote marks and replaced them with single quote marks.

When I tried to post the revised post I got the following message:

You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.

If the administrator has configured this forum to support email notifications you will receive an email when your post is either approved or denied (if you have emails enabled in your profile).

Is this strange or what???

Ah, got it--you're delving into that dark underworld of engineering.  :emotion-5:

I have another question about the Onscreen Keyboard (OSK).

I have just enabled it as default, to test it out.

Is there some way to have it behave like the regular screen keyboard behaves?
When a box opens up for text entry, the OSK is dumb and doesn't open up.
