returned streak problems / poor customer service

Dell please do not delete my post as im asking for advice - I have remained professional in my question please give me the same courtesy   I ordered the dell streak and it was delivered on friday 17th september.. I didnt get chance to use the streak properly till the weekend and noticed a few issues with it the earpiece was poor when speaking to someone - low volume the earpiece had play on it and it appeared loose the firmware was horrendous - this was a unlocked dell direct so on android 1.6 .. the phone regularly reset and when i came to use it after charging the lights flashed and it vibrated , couldnt stop it and had to pull the battery. I emailed dell uk on sunday 19th received no reply emailed on wednesday 22nd sept - still no reply i ended up ringing dell uk on an expensive 0844 number on the 24th september day 7 and was promised a pick up for refund ups arrived next day but unfortunately i missed them, i called them to ask if i could take the phone to them and they said no as dell wouldnt allow it - so i sat in all monday and the phone was picked up late on ... my wife was not impressed ! the parcel was destined for budapest hungary WHY ? I checked delivery and the phone was signed for in budapest on friday 1st october I checked my credit card bill on friday 8th october no refund so i made contact with dell support via email and the reply was that a reference number existed and i should ring up once again 0844 call I  was told the refund would be 14 days from pickup i checked again this monday and still no refund , so i recalled again and this time the story changed they advised the package was received on the 1st october and the refund would be 30 days from the date of rejection ie from 23rd september. I asked the lady in the call centre america i think why i was told 14 days and she told me that a lot of products had been returned therefore the refund was 30 days i have emailed in and still await reply as I can not buy another phone until dell refund me. why is a refund taking 30 days when i was told 14 ? i found the telephone system difficult and seemed to travel around the world and several people transfered me because they couldnt understand me .. presume dell has off shore call centres ? i have found the whole experience horrible and unfortunately unless dell do something to restore my faith i wont buy anything again any advice will be good .....

anyone - amy can you help ..   i need a refund .... 30 days is too long .. ive not returned the phone because i didnt want it i returned it because it is faulty
