SIMs for Streak 7

Question

I've had an interesting thought and I would have thought that someone would have mentioned it somewhere on the net but there is no sign anywhere of mention of putting a phone sim into a streak 7. Naturally a phone sim will work fine in a streak 5 because it is primarily a large phone.  The streak 7 is basically a larger streak 5 but without the phone bits.  I was wondering whether it would be possible to use a phone sim in the streak 7.  I know that it will work but what I would really like to know is will the phone companies automatically charge it a higher rate because they will consider it to be a tablet or will they charge it the same rate as they would for the streak 5? With some of the galaxy tabs it is possible to put in a phone sim and get data at the same rate as a phone but that is in devices that specifically have the innards of a phone despite being 7 inches in size. Is the Dell Streak fundamentally so different from a Galaxy tab 7 or a Dell streak 5 that it would not be able to use a phone sim without being charged for data outside the allowance that was given for use on the phone? I would like to find this out.  I am going to try it eventually as soon as I work out exactly how I can measure my costs but I would like any feedback from anyone who has tried it.  For further information I would be intending to do this on an English carrier.

There is an option where you can go ahead and insert the sim on the STREAK 7.

In accordance to the pricing for the usage of data I would recommend you to contact the data provider and they will let you know all the details.

Hi When i had a dell streak7 thats just what i did ,using T-mobile uk Standard simcard for a phone ,and taking advantage of their boosters offers

it worked a treat. by topping up £5 gbp and sending sms to 441 with the shortcode Minus the quotes send "MONTHWEB" and youll get just that a whole months access for £5 gbp ,,or even better value was topup £20 gbp and send "6MONTHWEB" to 441 to get 6 months web access ,there are some restrictions after use a certain amount of data but even then its just peak time restrictions,,,but bear in mind you CANNOT make cellular phone calls on the streak7 ..

i know these boosters are still available as my brother buys them for his phone

Like T-Mobile they are many other providers offering various data plans. You can choose the plans according to your need.

Yes, there are restrictions after using a certain amount of data and would recommend you to daily track your data usage to make sure that you are not charged extra.
