Don't think anyone outside Dell really knows when the official 2.2 will be out - "sometime this year - not the 31st December - much sooner" or something very close to that phrasing is in the official posts here...
Was assuming (and hoping! :emotion-7:) the update will all be done OTA direct to the Streak anyway.

What joke this update business has become for the streak. I have owned my streak from day of release in the uk. I downloaded the O2 update to 2.1 which i feel is worse than 1.6. Then the screen started to play up on my handset so it was sent away to be repaired. This obviously couldn't have been done so i was given a new handset. The new handset came with 1.6 which is a breath of fresh air compared to 2.1. I have read on many forums about newer updates 2.3 even 3.0 yet dell cant even seem to get 2.2 to its customers. Alot of other, newer smart phones running anroid are running 2.2 now. To say i regret owning a streak is an understatment. Not due to the hand set as i feel it is just what i need , but due to the lack of information from dell and the lack of updates.
Stick to your day jobs Dell and leave the smart phones/tablets to people who know what they are doing. You obviously dont.

I've not got an O2 Streak, but sounds like no-one would say the O2 upgrade was a success....but I'm still really pleased with my Streak. Quite happy to wait till Dell release their version of 2.2 and see how it goes - if I'm not happy with it I'll give the Stephen Hyde version of 2.2 a go.
Just looking for "Android update problems" comes up with a few big name Android manufacturers - Dell, Samsung and HTC - so if they're all having problems to one extent or another so think I'll stick with the Streak for the time being.

I have the O2 2.1 update and have had no issues at all to speak of. Don't mind the new keyboard and facebook/twitter apps. The device is definitly faster too. I seem to have happily avoided all the issues everyone else experienced :-).
I can't help thinking that this is the usual issue, when a number of people have problems they are very vocal but the majority who don't keep it to themselves.
That's not to say that the problems aren't out there but we don't really know the percentage of people who have been affected.
Let's hope that 2.2 is a universal success (crossing everything as we speak)

I have just had myk delivered back from Dell as it went away to have the 2.1 taken off and the 1.6 put back on. Guess what, my Streak has frozen more with the 1.6 reinstallation than it ever did with the 2.1. This is a total fiasco. The only thing I got back was my front facing camera but this is not much use now if the device keeps resetting itself. If anyone asks me if i have closed the back cover correctly, I will scream.
COME ON DELL, GET TO GRIPS

I think its best for all of us to be patient rather than picking hair and with a dummy gimmick in hand. Dell has promised and I guess they will keep it. Obviously we don't want 2.1 again let them take their time to test it, in the meantime I think we should request for features we may want. Some things require time, maybe they were wrong giving 1.6 so late but then why we bought it. At the end of the day we want a workable device.

maybe you should try removing the back door, and putting it back on?
