Venue 11 Pro 5130 32Bit to 64Bit

Hello,

Is it possible to upgrade the Dell Venue 11 Pro (5130 32Bit version) to the 64 Bit version by installing the 64Bit bios version?

And is-it possible to update the boot/restore partition to a Windows 8.1 64Bit?

At the begining the 32Bit version was installed because of lack of the 64Bit driver for the Atom. But now, the 64 bit driver are out and i want to go to the 64 Bit version.

Thanks

Sorry but, the processor is a 64Bit.
The fact that the venue come with 32Bit Windows is only because Intel dont make a drivers for Atom 64Bit when the Venue comme out. Now the drivers are out.
The only one limitation is the bios. Other manufacturer let user to pass to a 64Bit os and Driver with the same CPU.
If it's true that there is a hardware limitation on your tablet, its only because Dell want to limit. Intel tell that its only a driver limitation not hardware.

For sure it was my last Dell hardware. No support,no answer to mail, programed obsolescence, no upgrade possible.

PS: sory for my bad english

I'm also interested in this question, but it seems no one cares anymore

Hi, I am also interested in this. I have heard that it is not possible create a WIMboot Installation (which reduces the size of the Windows install on the disk) without a 64 bit Windows? The additional Mass storage space would be very valuable... Regards, Fergus

Please Dell make this happen... I just want to be able to update the UEFI to 64-bit so I can install a 64-bit OS of my choice. I don't want or need any more support than that!

Yes, please help us to make it happen! These devices are not so different. Processors are 64 bit compatible. It can be done just by a firmware update, i think. Dell devices are always good in hardware but it seems that software support is not enough. I know that from my old Dell Streak 7 device which didn't get upgrade to new versions of Android, even though it has a powerful hardware. I hope this behavior changes.

I am also interested.  Pleeeeeease Dell!  The travel keyboard is a disaster what with the random shutdowns it causes.  My faith will be restored if I could only have 64 bit windows.

This is not possible guys.   If you need 64-bit, you'll need to purchase the 64-bit version.  The hardware is different.

Thanks Brian, but in Control Panel\System, it says "System Type: 32-bit Operating System, x64-based processor".

To me, "x64-based processor" means this is 64-bit hardware.  To me, 64-bit hardware should be able to run a 64-bit version of windows.

Can you please give more detail?

Yes, we need a bit more detailed technical answer, please. At least tell us why it is not possible, because we already paid for that device. Some of us like me did it just a couple of months ago. It wasn't a freebie! HW seems the same except the processor. Also everyone knows both of them are 64bit processors.

Yeah, this product didn't quite work as intended. It has multiple unsolved problems concerning the mobile keyboard waking and sleeping and the Tablet waking and sleeping.

Just about the most frustrating problem a mobile device could have is it going to sleep and then when you need it you have to remove the battery because 10 % of the time the tablet just will not wake up, no matter which bios and firmware updates they publish. Also the pen function is sub par compared to other similar products.

I'm not even that concerned with the pen as it was not the main reason for my purchase but an other vice good device is wasted on the stupid bug which does not wake up the device every time consistently. This is incredibly frustrating and I will be more careful the next time I consider buying a Dell device.

Even just a reset button in some small nook would've made the sleeping bug not that big of a deal, but when the power button cannot wake the device in any configuration of pressing and hammering is just bad design.

They can  provide us at least a legacy boot option! This should be possible. But profits makes it impossible.
