Venue 11 Pro dock HDMI to DVI problem

I recently just got the tablet dock hooked up to the dock and an external monitor through HDMI on the dock and HDMI-to-DVI converter to the monitor.  The resolution on the display setting in Windows shows the correct resolution.  However, on the actual monitor, there's about an inch of unused screen real estate and a purple vertical line where the screen stop working.  I've tried on two different monitor with different default resolution (1680x1050 & 1920x1200) and both have the same problem.  Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?  Using the Dell's 40-pin to HDMI to DVI works fine.  So, it seems like there's something wrong with the dock itself.

Just a small correction:  Issue is with HDMI to DVI converter AND DP to DVI converter.  DP to DP and HDMI to HDMI seem to be working well...

Good to hear that Dell is looking into it - hopefully it is a software issue...

Agree, it's good to hear that Dell is looking into this and hopefully it's just a software issue.  It would suck if we have to get a new monitor just because of the dock.  Hopefully the solution comes soon.

Can you please try with the following resolutions and see if the result is the same?   Still trying to understand why this works for some and not others.   There was extensive testing done with various HDCP monitors using straight DP and HDMI connectors as well as using mini HDMI and various converters (mini HDMI to HDMI or DVI and HDMI to DVI).

Clone mode @ 1366*768 or 1920*1080 or External only 1920*1080.   Same problem?

One other thing to verify if you are using an HDMI cable that is directional, you need to make sure the arrows point from the source (dock) to the monitor, or I don't believe you'll get a proper (possibly any) signal.

Interesting that people are having issues with HDCP compliant monitors.  Every compliant monitor I've tested works and is automatically set to the correct resolution 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 depending on the make/model.

I get no display at all for the non-HDCP compliant monitors.

Cheers,

Which adapter, or cable are you using?

Which adapter, or cable are you using? Have you had success with dual displays?

Continuous "Entering PowerSave Mode" loop

Dell Venue 11 Pro 7130

Dell P2012H Screen

HDMI to DVI cable @ 1600x900 60hz, 1366x768 60hz

DP to DVI adapter @ 1600x900 60hz, 1366x768 60hz

DP adapter is an Amphenol - came with my OptiPlex 7010 which has no issues using it with the exact same P2012H screen.

Thanks - we should have one of those up in the monitor lab.   I'll test it on Monday.

I've tried with 3 different monitors (all older 3-10 years old).  The newest one is a Samsung 24" with resolution 1920x1080.  That one doesn't even show any image on the screen.  Then tried a 10 year old Dell 20" 2005FPW(1680x1050) and a 6 year old Samsung 24" (1920x1200).  I've tried clone mode, I've tried extend mode, I've tried to only use the external monitor mode.  They all have the same result for the Dell 20" and Samsung 24".  I've also tried lower resolutions as well.  The Samsung 24" (1920x1200) that work is HDCP compatible as well.  So, I'm not sold that it would work with HDCP monitors.

My HDMI to DVI adapter is from Monoprice.com.  My HDMI cable is also from Monoprice.com as well.

What are the model numbers of the three monitors, and do any of them work? Not really clear on your last post.

Here are the 3 monitors and their behaviors.

Dell 2005fpw - does not fill up the monitor, problem I described in my initial post.  1680x1050 resolution.  not HDCP

Samsung 2494 - doesn't work at all.  1920x1080.  not sure if its HDCP or not

Samsung 245bw - same as the Dell.  1920x1200 resolution. HDCP

I am having the same issues... Venue 11 Pro w/ dock.  I am using both a DisplayPort -> DVI and a HDMI -> DVI adapter with the same monitor without any luck.  I can't get Windows to even recognize the screens as connected.  What's odd is that the one screen, connected to the DisplayPort adapter, worked for about 3 seconds before went black again and won't work anymore.

The monitors are Samsung 2253BW's and are HDCP compliant, so I don't think that's the issue (at least not here).

For anyone who has it working, what adapters are you using?  I picked up a couple of "cheap" adapters off of Amazon but maybe that's the problem (I once had an issue with a DisplayPort adapter on a Mac).

To add to the dilemma..

I just connected my 42" Samsung TV to my Venue dock with a standard HDMI cable.  The drivers seem to recognize the TV, it shows up in the controls, and I can configure it to either duplicate or extend my desktop.  However, there is no picture on my TV.  This cable was being used for my Roku device, so I know the cable works and the TV input is fine.  There is definitely something wrong here with the drivers and/or the dock.

I finally got a chance to try several different monitors today...   I was able to get all 3 monitors that I tried working with a variety of HDMI to VGA or DVI adapters.   I couldn't get any of the DP to VGA or DVI adapters that I have to show any external video.    I tried the Dell U2410, U2711 and 2407.    Video had black bars on sides and/or top or bottom when in clone mode (due to previously mentioned scaling issues) but was full screen in external only mode.   All monitors are HDCP compliant.   I will continue to dig further into this to understand why some HDMI adapters aren't working and why none of my DP adapters are working.

I have issue with the docking using a display port to DVI-I converter, with a Dell Monitor (Dell 2408WFP). Issues does also exist with an Eizo monitor.

I was able to get that same monitor to work today with an HDMI to DVI adapter.   I could not get it to work with DP to DVI.

Did you ever try the P2012H that 2 of us said we can't get to work?
