Unity 300 pool oversubscribed
Hi folks,
I've got a Unity 300 with a single 3.6TB pool. The pool is used solely for a single LUN for virtualization storage.
The pool is very full:
Size: 3967GB
3807.3Gb used
1.1GB preallocated
158.5 Free
But this should not a problem as the virtualization system is only using 2622GB. Being a traditional pool, space allocated to the iSCSI LUN can't be returned to the pool. So the usage statistics will only show the high water mark. That's fine as I monitor storage on the virtualization side.
In the pool overview pane it says it is 101% subscribed. The size of the LUN is 3973 GB. So the LUN is 6GB larger than the pool. I am not sure how this happened.
My concern is that the pool usage keeps creeping up(but the LUN always stays around 2.6-3TB) and at some point the virtualization will try to use an unused part of the LUN storage and there will not be any space in the pool to back it up.
What are my options? Add storage to the pool is the obvious one. That's an expensive solutiuon to a 6GB problem.
