VSI for Web client change hostname
Hi
I am referring this document, VSI for VMware vSphere Web Client <https://support.emc.com/docu71098_VSI_for_VMware_vSphere_Web_Client_6.9.2_Product_Guide.pdf?language=en_US>.
Could you tell me how to change then host name of the Solutions Integration Service virtual appliance?
Even though I change it , it automatically returns to localhost.localdom after rebooting the system.
Thank you,

I checked this again today for a customer case (may be King might have logged). I found some method , but as this is virtual appliance, this may be by design to avoid any modifications after deployment. Lot easier to re-deploy new one with required config and backup/restore the DB.
Edited again for Solution (Also documented in KB 492564 with additional instruction for hostname change as well) :
This is because of vApp ovf properties (which is populated from the initial deployment). During OS boot, a vmware process reads this and overwrites the dns/hostname back to original default.
So to have this changed:
1) Shutdown the VSI (if not shutdown, we can view only, not able to edit)
2) Go to vSphere GUI and edit settings for the "VSI VM"
3) Go to Options -> vApp Options -> Properties
4) Modify the DNS as required
5) Power on the VM which will have this settings automatically applied.
Read only copy of this will be dynamically saved in /opt/vmware/etc/vami/ovfEnv.xml on the VSI as well.
Screenshot with VM powered on:

i tried to test this by deploying 6.9.2 and you are right. The hostname is back to localhost.localdom after the reboot.
This is because, during boot, it overrides with dns name and when no dns entry, it goes to localhost.localdom. So by creating an entry in dns, it picked up automatically during boot.
