Foglight v6 - FaultException : Failed to retrieve inventory data from the collector
After upgrading our Virtual Centre to V4, the foglight is failing to report back any details and has the following alert only:
"FaultException : Failed to retrieve inventory data from the collector : Parameter name cannot be null or an empty string.
Parameter name: key Make sure the agent collector service is running"
Has anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it?
Thanks
Kaleem

I logged a call with Vizioncore and the resolution is as follows:
the problem you have is related to a VMware known issue when upgrading to vSphere 4.0 as detailed in: kb.vmware.com/.../search.do
Bascially you need to run a SQL command from your Virtual Center via MS SQL Management Studio which will identify one or more VMs that have a missing entry in the VPX_VIRTUAL_SCSICONTROLLER table. Once this information is determined you would follow steps 2-6 of the reolution...basically removing those VMs from the inventory and adding them right back.
After those steps are complete you would restart the vFoglight Vmware Collector and vFoglight Vmware Connector services.
