Need help to set proper permissions on certain section of vfoglight
Hi,
I receive a specific request, someone from another team, needed access only to the VMWare Capacity Management section under VMWare Environment.
Ive done some test with a dummy account and I needed to give "Capacity Management Administrator and VMware QuickView user" to be able to access the capacity management section.
But since it is Capacity Management Administrator, she would also have the rights to modify our current "standards" as an example N+1 and the Capacity Threshold.
Is there a way to assign a new role create to have permissions on certain section of vfoglight. As I would create a role called "Capacity Management Viewer" instead of admin.

The VMWare Environment security is not structured out of the box to do what you are looking for.
This might work, I have not tested it.
To modify this, you will need to understand how to make changes in the WCF environment under Configuration/Definitions. If you have not worked in WCF, you would want to engage Quest to help you with this, would be a pretty easy change for them.
The Button is under Capacity Management/Capacity Management, called Settings Button. There are no security settings on that button. However, It leads to Capacity Management/Capacity Management/Global Capacity Settings Dialog, where you can set security.
You would need to modify the Global Capacity Settings Dialog, changing the 'relevant roles' to your newly created role, and no longer including the Capacity Management Administrator in the list. Changing this would not change the underlying data, just prevent anyone not in a group with the new Role from starting the dialog.
Remember, you will have to make this change after each future upgrade, since new versions completely overwrite older ones.
I'm hoping that future versions will enable more granular security roles for the vFoglight cartridge.
