Thanks-if Joe 53 thinks it is good then it probably is a good program.

I know that Joe53 uses, likes, and advocates it... and I respect any position he offers.

EDITED-OUT, based on the clarification that follows below

These look like two different programs.  Hopefully Joe 53 will see this thread.

aps:

upon looking into this further, I see there are two similarly-named programs:
there's both an "A squared Free" as well as an "A squared HiJack Free".

That being the case, we may need to double-check on this, to see which one Joe uses...
and I regret if I inadvertently associated his name with the wrong one.

Joe, you out there???

Hi guys:

I haven't tried a-squared HiJackFree. I see from its Feature Overview webpage that it has some useful functions:
http://www.hijackfree.de/en/hijackfree/

Many of these functions would be redundent for me, duplicating what I already have in other apps such as WinPatrol, HijackThis (other tools) etc. The Online Analysis module sounds like an automated HJT analysis tool (which are always risky to use without guidance). Other than that, I can't see any downside to trying it out.

I can say that I've had absolutely no problems with the anti-trojan standalone scanner a-squared Free 2.1 from the same company, Emisoft.

Joe,

Thanks for the clarification on the distinction between these two sound-alike products.
I've amended my initial reply, above, so as not to mislead anyone who only gets that far.
