AdAware vs Spybot question

I have a new Dell Dimension 8400 pc and I am currently running Norton Internet Security 2004.  Do I still need AdAware or Spybot to protect my pc from Spyware, malware, etc?  If so, which one is better?  I have read reviews on both products and it is confusing.  One review stated that the free version of Spybot is better than the free ver. of AdAware.  One person, a network support technician, recommended running both.  I don't want to bog down my pc with a lot of unnecessary software.  Also, I wondered about using Spywareblaster to block spyware from my computer altogether.  Does anyone have any advice?

Hello cwomble, I remove spyware at several forums, and while others will have opinions, here are mine.  These are the three links I give to any individual who's log is clean at the end of the removal process, there may be a some duplication, that means these folks who's opinions I trust are in sync.  Compliments of Tony Klein, Texruss and ChrisRLG:

I believe Ad-aware, Spybot, SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard and IE-Spyad are a must.  Spybot has a small glitch that should be repaired with the next upgrade.  The DSO Exploit messages:  http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/36.html
