Adware

Rumor has it thet Lavasoft's program.....Ad-Aware SE has been compromised, by parties unknown, so that attacks can occur....[address bar omitted.....new icons on the Desktop].......

Anybody hear of this problem?........

If I delete Lavasoft's program......what is the name of a good substitute?

Haven't heard that one, but Lavasoft just released new update for SE, version 104...

Thanks again for the comment....

Here is my immediate problem....

Have XP......a new Dell.....and Ad-Aware SE......1.03....Verizon DSL....

Lost my Address Bar......something or somebody has replaced my MSN Messenger with MSN ME Messenger.......strange new icons keep appearing and disappearing on my Desktop.....

How do I get rid of this stuff?......Have run Panda virus search.....and have run Ad-Aware SE a coupla times....

Thanks jimw, didn't know there was reported trouble with version 1.04....I installed new version and it ran fine...guess it would be safer to wait for new version if you have not already installed 1.04.....again thanks for the headsup...

There's a thread in the XP board discussing problems with 1.04. I haven't been able to corroborate this yet.

(edit) As WildOne46 pointed out, there's a long thread at Lavasoft about this situation.
