When I was running both Norton Internet Security and Norton AV I had nothing but problems. But, the problems you are experiencing might be because these programs don't have access to the internet. Try this: Go to Control Panel. Click on Windows Firewall, and then the Exceptions tab. See where it says "Add Program" down below on the left hand side? See if Norton AV or Norton Security is listed. If it isn't, click on the Add program and add them to your list of exceptions. See if this helps. Every program you want the Internet to have access to has to be listed there, or the program won't run right.

Just a short note:

There should be only ONE active firewall on a computer – Windows Firewall or Norton Firewall.

When I had this same problem, it was caused by a "Live Update" that was downloaded that was corrupted. You might want to do what I did. I uninstalled Norton Completely. What the Add/Remove program in Control Panel didn't uninstall, I manually uninstalled. I went to Start, File, Search. Then I deleted all of the files associated with Norton. Once all those files were clean, I rebooted my computer and then reinstalled Norton. Then I had to configure it again. Once it was configured, it worked fine. But, before you have to resort to that, you might want to check with Norton first.

Time to Rant and carry on about the HUGE consumer unfriendly Symantec Corp.

Followed all their Knowledge Base articles and decided to just kick the "elephant" out by 'gutting my Registry of all things Symantec.

This is the 2nd time around dealing with their 'update' issues.

All they wanted me to do was pay for an upgrade to 2005.

This after only 5 months of a $70.00 contract is used up.

This is unacceptable in the hardware world...how can they claim to be outside this ethic?
