Annoying pop up: Dell Ultra Sharp

are you sure this is really a "pop up advertisement"??

 

what monitor do you have? --- is it in fact a DELL Ultra Sharp?

(If not, then I guess we can assume you're getting a "pop up ad" )

if you do have a DELL Ultra Sharp monitor, have you checked your ScreenSaver and Power options?? ---

START / Control Panel / Display / ScreenSaver / Power

what is the setting under Turn Off Monitor (and i guess it wouldn't hurt to note when it's set to Turn Off Hard Disks)

 

START / Control Panel / Display / ScreenSaver

see what screensaver you're running (make sure it's not generating the UltraSharp message).

 

when you get that message, does anything happen if you move/press your mouse, or if you press a key on the keyboard??

 

 

when the screen goes black I can do nothing. no cursor and  cannot use the keyboard. after a 20 or so second delay screen comes back on. Then it goes off again and I have to turn screen off and on several times to have it ciome back.   

it sounds much more like a hardware problem to me, than an "adware" one.    you can try posting your problem in the appropriate [desktop or notebook] hardware forum...

(unless anyone else reading this feels they can/should pursue this as an "ad" )
