DSL & Cable modems do not work best IF they are connected to a USB Port on the Computer

Try connecting the Modem thru a NIC Card (RJ45 jack, 8 position) .. your computer already
has one installed .. you will need to change your setting under Network Connections

You also need to Uninstall any Driver or Software you installed when you installed the Arescom Modem

See if that helps resolve the problem

Many thanks for your prompt reply. The first part sounds easy enough but uninstalling drivers pre-Arescom could be a real bear. That's everything on my computer. The XPS is an upgrade from a Dimension 8100 so I transferred everything from the old hard drive to the new one. What puzzles me is I was using both the Aerscom modem and Norton on the old Dimension without any problem. Must be something in the XPS architecture that creates the conflict. Might be easier just to change antivirus programs if that would solve the problem as well.

I have a Dell XPS Media Center with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition. I am also experiencing occassional blue screens that have started in the past couple of months.

Error histories indicate NdusbMsn.sys and also b57xp32.sys which is  driver for Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit controller.

These two errors appear together over and over as warnings and then I eventually get a blue screen.  I have tried updating drivers for the Aresom NetDSL800 but it has not appeared to work.

I also have Norton Antivirus but have no indications of conflict between the two.  How did you connect Norton to the problem with Arescom?

I have Qwest DSL with MSN and have contacted them, they advise contacting Dell.

I just saw your message and am wondering if you have had any luck figuring out what the problem is?  Hoping to hear from you. Thanks

In a phone conversation with Dell I was tipped off to a link on a British forum in which a member had reported the same problem. I uninstalled the Norton Internet Security program that came with the computer and installed a Norton Antivirus 2004 program I had on my old computer, plus the Win XP firewall. That seemed to work. I think I had one other blue screen since but it may have been unrelated to the apparent Norton Security/Aersom conflict.

Hope this helps.
